Why Choose Seasonal this Summer?

Increased Nutrients

Better for the Earth

Save Money

Different fruits and vegetables reach peak ripeness at different times in the year.  When produce is in season and ripe, the nutrients, such as vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients are the most dense. These nutrients contribute to taste which means that the seasonal produce will be the most delicious to choose from at the store.

Producing out-of-season- fruits and vegetables can be harmful to the environment. Non-seasonal produce requires  more transportation to be delivered which increases carbon emissions. Out-of-season produce also requires greater amounts of preservatives and pesticides to ensure freshness by the time they are sold.

Buying produce that is in season can be very cost-effective for the consumer. When a fruit or vegetable is in season, it grows more abundantly and can be harvested in larger quantities. Also, since the produce is grown closer to where it is sold, it costs less to transport the produce. This results in more cost-effective prices for the consumer.
