A Mindful Breakfast

For so long we have been told that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and for good reason.

When we have our first meal each morning, we are consuming necessary nutrients we haven’t eaten while sleeping overnight.

If you are someone who wakes up hungry, ready to eat, then it’s important to make sure you have a fulfilling, nourishing breakfast. However, it’s also important that you are mindful of your eating habits.

If you are someone who is not hungry in the morning, that is okay! One helpful tip in practicing mindful eating is to listen to your body and hunger cues.

This means, if you are hungry- eat; if you are not hungry- you do not have to eat.

Depending on how you feel about eating breakfast, it’s important that when you do eat your first meal that you have a nourishing, fulfilling meal that you enjoy.

We have put together a few ideas for breakfasts that can fit any lifestyle and preferences.

Egg Omelet

A delicious omelet breakfast is a classic breakfast idea that anyone can enjoy. Like other recipes, you can tailor your omelet to your own preferences. We created a helpful graphic for putting together a balanced omelet breakfast to fit your preferences.

Waffles

Another classic breakfast are waffles. If you have time in the morning, waffles can be a great balanced meal. Do you prefer frozen waffles? Enjoy them as well! A great way to incorporate waffles is to add your favorite fruits, vegetables, or breakfast meats on the side to create a balanced breakfast.

On the go

For anyone on the go, breakfast can be a challenge.

Easy ways to enjoy breakfast while on the go include granola bars, overnight oats, bagel and cream cheese, or granola yogurt parfaits. Each can be made balanced by adding a side of your favorite fruit, vegetables, grains, and breakfast beverages.

Smoothie

One of our favorite breakfasts for on the go or at home is a smoothie. A great aspect of smoothies is that, like omelets, you can also tailor them to your own preferences and what you have on hand.

We also have created a graphic for mixing your own smoothies at home. We encourage you to play around with ingredients you enjoy or have on hand to create a delicious smoothie you’ll enjoy!

Happy breakfast eating!
